Parents and Grandparents Super Visa
The Parent and Grandparent Super Visa for Canada allow parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to visit Canada for extended periods. A new option for visiting Canada, Super visa provides multiple entries for a period up to 10 years and allows an individual to stay for up to two years at a time in Canada, with the ability to apply for extensions of one year at a time. Currently, most visitors to Canada may visit for up to six months when they first enter Canada. Visitors who wish to stay longer must apply for an extension and pay a new fee. However, with the parent and grandparent super visa, eligible parents and grandparents can visit family in Canada for up to two years without the need to renew their status.
Requirements for this class of visa include:

- Valid travel document (Passport)

- Proof of strong ties to your home country

- Proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay in Canada

- Medical examination

- Canadian medical insurance coverage for at least one year

- Letter of invitation from your child/grandchild

- Child or grandchild of the applicant must meet a minimum income threshold known as the low-income cut-off (LICO). Proof of LICO must be provided

- Written financial undertaking from your child/grandchild
Please note that:

- Holders of Super Visa holders are not allowed to work while in Canada

- The validity of the super visa will be the same as the validity of the passport minus one month
